[Physical and chemical properties] White needle-like crystals (recrystallized from dilute ethanol or dilute acetic acid). Melting point 236~237℃. Easily soluble in hot water, soluble in hot ethanol, insoluble in ether. It turns brown when encountering ferric chloride. Reduced by magnesium and hydrochloric acid, it turns red. When carbon dioxide is introduced into the alkaline solution, it does not precipitate. When 2% hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid is added for hydrolysis, one molecule each of tangeretin, glucose, and rhamnose is produced.
